if the light is not flashing its not an emergency.















It could even be something simple like your fuel door is not tight enough















but if it is flashing that is when its serious































get a code reader, they are fairly cheap and plug into the obII data port, located under the steering wheel/under dash area















it can clear the cose and tell you what it is

Was the Corolla included in the oil-sludge buildup in engines of some Toyota models, a few years ago? You might want to check that out. Also, is your Corolla one of the years included in the recalls? There are indications that some of the defects identified in the recalls went back several years. The U.S. government regulator, NHT-SA is currently investigating that the 'sudden acceleration' defects date to 2002 or earlier.
