Default Spark plugs changed 2005 Corolla; now engine light on/ told need new engine control...
...module/Connection? When they did diagnostic to tell me engine control module needed to be replaced, the light went out for several days, but then came back on. Getting 35 mpg consistently/have kept up all oil changes etc/no indication there is any problem. Could there be a connection with the spark plugs being changed? Could it be a faulty light? What we indicate it is truly a problem?

What fault code(s) are setting the engine check light?















The only connection with changing the spark plugs that I can think of would be a misfire due to a bad plug or damaged wire or perhaps a wire or connection that was disturbed during the plug change.















You really need to find out what fault codes are being set.

Not likely due to the spark plugs being changed. Maybe the other way around. The spark plugs needed to be changed due to a faulty control unit. Check Ebay Motors for a used one.
