The Supra was designed to compete against ferrari and the Porsche when it came most of those where selling well as auto forms, also the manuals on these cars suffered with a hard clutch and people felt it did not work well with its engine,to be fair many people knock the auto setups but most people whom have driven them are suprised to how good there are the auto setup was also popular in the soarer, gs300 and other models like the chaser, Myself i have driven two automatic MK4 Supra's which i found to offer a great setup with a mix of driving part manual also, myself atm drive an Automatic Skyline which again is rapid and offers a huge amount of control over when the box changes just from the pedal as well as extra seperate control buttons over the box and its change time again as with the mk4 Supra,so def do not over look these cars,it is nothing like driving a low cc auto box or a non sporty auto setup, myself have owned and driven fast auto's and manuals and on the right cars both have a lot to offer, and attending car events each year i see plenty of Supra auto's ripping up the drag strip.also i may add that the automatic Supra's where made with a higher spec than the manual versions.
