Default hilux 3.0L intercooler - engine warning light comes on vechile stops lots light smoke-restart...
...- all ok now? diesel motor was driving 130-150kph 6 hrs-day not hot, no overheating, no oil loss/leaks; have done 100 kms since `incident` less 110 kph motor all ok for now? was this bad fuel or intercooler problem? electronic? etc?

Diesel fuel is not very good quality. You might have gotten a bad batch. It could be better now. But if the light comes on, it should also store the code as to why. Autozone will read the code for free I believe.
