I suspect you are referring to the maintenance required light. It comes on every 5,000 miles to tell you it is time to change the oil. Many change it more frequently than that so you have to turn off the light when it comes on. You do this by holding down the odometer trip meter button before starting the car. While still holding it down yo then turn the key only to the first notch. The numbers should go to 0000000. release the button and turn off the car. The trip meter will go back to where it was.
