Your battery probably died. you need a new one

My first thought would be a dead battery. The battery is what powers the car, not the alternator. If the battery dies (they can get internal faults, they can sulfide) then the engine will quit and nothing electrical will work.































It could be a bad alternator; if the battery does not get the constant charge from the alternator it eventually discharges to a point below which the engine quits and again you lose total electrical power.































If your car has a separate belt for the alternator, it may be a broken belt that prevents the alternator from charging the battery.

The battery is only used to start the car, once the car is running, the alternator power all your electrical need such as the ignition coils and the fuel pump to keep the car running. If your alternator dies, the car runs off the battery until the battery becomes discharged. At that point you have a bad alternator, dead battery. It can also be a bad alternator connection or a bad ground causing your alternator not to charge.
