Is it true that VIN of Toyota Rav4 starting with 'J' has no problem?

I am really interested in buying a new toyota Rav4, but the recent recall has kept me back. But, my friend told me that a Rav4 with a VIN starting with 'J' will not have any problems. Is this true? Please help me!!

That's what all the news sources say. "J" designations are made in Japan with Japanese made parts.

I don't see where that would matter. Regardless of where it is made, it must be made with the same parts to maintain cost effective pipeline for the parts. It wouldn't be prudent to make a 2010 Rav 4 with different designs for the same part for Japanese vs American vs European destined cars unless required by law. There has to be a good reason.

The J only means it is a Japanese car and all Japanese cars start with J.































So the answer is yes you will still have problems.

Since this is a massive recall by Toyota, all Toyota shoppers currently are purchasing all Vehicles which have the VIN number that begins with J.....meaning they were build in Japan, (has denso pedal, these pedals were not included in the recall). All American pedals were included in recall....































CURRENTLY AVOID VIN NUMBERS WITH 1-4......those were build here on US grounds...
