Maybe leaving the defective gas pedal in the vehicles and simply attaching a little piece of metal to the floor didn't quite do the trick.
Why did Toyota put a new, redesigned gas pedal in the new vehicles off the assembly line but not in the ones already on the road?
That seems like a double standard, putting the safety of existing customers second, with profit and expedience first, as always.
There's also the possibility that the real problem was never floor mats and a sticky gas pedal, but electronics, as some experts have argued.
