Depends on the user, how well your car is maintained, etc. To know for certain, fill your gas tank to the top and write down your mileage. Drive around as you normally would until you need gas again. Fill to the top (filling to the top is important). Write down your mileage again.
Now subtract your old mileage from your new mileage and divide it by the number of gallons you just put in your car. There is your miles per gallon!
Example:
Mileage is 10,000 when you put in 10 gallons of gas on Monday.
Mileage is 10,200 when you put in another 10 gallons of gas on Friday. 10,100 - 10,000 is 200 miles driven on 10 gallons of gas. 200 divided by 10 is 20 so you're getting 20 miles per gallon of gas burned.
