Default How much would it cost & how awful of an idea is it be to turn my 95 Toyota land
Cruiser into a convertible? i would leave the front windows put in a sufficient roll cage and then what else would i need to do!!!!!

It would be pretty expensive to do it correctly and not have it shake, twist, and bend itself into uselessness. Think thousands of dollars unless you do all the work yourself. In addition to building a cage properly (if you really want a cage on your convertible...), you'd likely have to reinforce the frame under the truck significantly to regain some of the rigidity lost by removing the roof. I don't think I'd do it unless I was willing and financially able to scrap the truck if lopping the top off ends up making it unsafe to drive etc., because it might.

It is a pretty terrible idea. Sure it could be done, but here is what you would have to do:































Cut off the top, then add structural metal tubing to keep the chassis from flexing.















Ok, so if you do this, you can add some sort of a soft top that snaps on, but you might have to have it made. I don't know if anyone makes one. Or you can get a custom made convertable top, which will cost a fortune.































Any way you cut it, it sounds like a huge amount of work and probably money.

It is a terrible idea. Get a Solara if you want a convertable.
