Default I have a 1997 toyota 4runner 4x4 automatic transmission?
my s.u.v was crash from the front and im having trouble with the transmission i dont really know wats wrong with it but i know that the gear stick only lets the Parking reverse and 1st gear work an 2nd 3rd and 4th gear dont work and the 4x4 works great does anyone know some like it or whats wrong ill appricaiate any information thank you.

I would guess that the engine and transmission moved in the accident and broke a mount loose, because they are all make of rubber.















This may be allowing the shift arm on the transmission, that the shift cable attaches to, to be restricted by the body or something.















I would get underneath, while someone shifts back and forth.















(with the engine off).































If the shifter itself can move and is not physically blocked, then another possibility could be that you broke a transmission cooler line to the radiator, and you lost so much fluid that it can't shift any more.















Check the transmission dipstick with the engine running.
