Default check engine light is off, has been on over a year, why?
I have a 2000 Toyota Camry bought it in June 2007. January 2008 the check engine light came on until yesterday (04/0510) when I turn on the car the light is off. Why? Also, the letter "D" in the dashboard for drive is off but the others are not. The lights work for all gears for the gear shift. The light to replace rear taillight is on the dashboard. The code read p420 for check engine light. I have had only one oxygen sensor replaced. Should I replace the other and/or the catalytic converter? I have had regular oil changes, etc. My mileage is 118, 610 know. 4 cycl, automatic, LE 4 door Camry. I have had no problems driving, starting, shutting off, etc. Has never been in an accident. What is wrong with my car?

When the check engine light is "on" it means you have an engine problem, that is common with Toyota. Yesterday it went off because it finally burned out. Get it replaced then go see what is wrong with your engine making it stay on but DON'T take it to a Toyota dealer if you want it fixed right.































Your "D" light is also burned out and with that many miles you need to look for a new car. Get an American or European car this time so you won't have so many problems with quality and they will last far longer.

It looks like Mr. Verma is very disappointed with Toyota or matter of speaking, disappointed with Japes.















Personally feel Japes are the better auto craft men, Germans being the best. You take any engine, the Japes have best fuel efficient engines.















Well, regarding the problem, Mr. Verma might be right, the lamp must be down. To confirm, get the car to a dealer.

A U M : Mr. Verma up there hates all JAPANESE CARS.















this is interesting, he likes European cars now....I thought he only wants to support American cars.































and his source.....E46 does he not know what that is?















A Bimmer is his source?
