I have a 2000 Toyota Echo. My car screeches when I turn it on.?

Default I have a 2000 Toyota Echo. My car screeches when I turn it on.?
It did it when I turned it on and up to about 100 feet away but not after that. It only does it when I first turn it on. Once it warms up it doesn't do it any more. Does this sound like a loose belt? I don't see any fluid leaking from the car nor is there any on the bumpers or any visible on the outside of the car like it would be shooting out from the engine. I did not open the hood.

just like you said the belt is either loose or no good. change the belt the noise will go away

It sounds like the alternator is slipping on the belt. The alternator drag on the belt is highest right after start-up as it tries to recharge the battery; that's why the squeal on start-up. Your Echo has a serpentine belt, and unless it has been changed in the last couple of years it should be replaced now. If installed properly the squeal should stop.
