Default Saftey of a Toyota Echo?
I'm getting my first car soon (it'll be a used one) and i found a Toyota Echo that i liked. I was wondering how safe/reliable they are and if they are fuel efficient, etc. Do you you think they would make a could first car for teen? the one i found is year 2002 i think- if that makes a differance. But there are a couple others from differant years i found too. i don't know if it matters...

excellent choice - its a Toyota at a bargain basement price































and it gets nearly as good mileage as a Hybrid































very reliable - very efficient - use your seat belt - and it will be safe too

All newer (similar) cars from any brand are much more fuel efficient than around 2002 I believe. But for the budget, I would assume it has decent mpg and pretty safe. I have a 2001 car myself.































However, when buying used you really need to check everything. Test drive and test the brakes, idling(shaking), A/C, etc. Make sure you dont need to spend too much money on repairs after you get it.

When I was a teen, bigger was better & gas was cheap. My first "imported" car was a '72 Toyota Celica. That was also the only car that got over 300,000 miles before it was time to rebuild the engine. Take someone - a mechanic preferably - to help you check it out. Good luck. If you see an old guy with long hair and his thumb out, pull over and give a ride, please!
