2004 Corolla warning light - Oxygen sensor?
Few days ago, the warning light (in the shape of an engine) on the panel of my 2004 Corolla lit. It first happened more than 2 years ago and over the past, the sign turned off by itself in less than 2 days. In between I took my car to my own mechanics (2 of them) as well as the dealer's service dept to check. I've got contradictory answers. The only concurrent answer is the warning sign stemmed from the oxygen. One of them told suggeted me to replace the sensor to avoid more serious catalyst problem in the future. He said his shop can do the replacement but afterwards I need to take the car to the dealer to do computer reset in the car. (Honestly, if I need to do so, I would prefer to do everything under the same roof instead of going to places) One of them said it is a mean of the auto maker (Toyota) to help their dealer to make money and I don't need to care about it unless and until the car run like a pony jump. I have no idea which way should I go. If I need to replace the sensor, is it possible to do it myself? I would appreciate any opinion than can help me to improve my intelligence in maintaining the wellbeing of my beloved car. Thank you.
