My Dad has a new Toyota Camry sedan with a set of aftermarket custom alloy rims. Two of these wheels are leaking air. The rims were purchased in the States and the Warranty does not apply in Canada. How do we seal these rims. Can we do it ourselves or do we need a tire shop to do it.
There is no corrosion (yet). These rims were new 'out of the box' less than a month ago.
A tire shop would be the best place to go. They would put some sealant along the bead area.
Stuff like fix a flat is only temporary. This stuff is a water base latex base. It would work great until you drive in the rain. Then your leak would return.
The bead might just have to be resealed. a Tire shop can break it down and re seal the bead and your problem should be fixed. If the leak returns Inspect the tire for damage, or get the rims grinded to have a flush surface for the mount.
THE RIMS HAVE CORROSION IN THE BEAD AREA THE TIRE NEEDS TO COME OFF AND A WIRE BRUSH SHOULD CLEAN UP THE BEAD AREA THEN HAVE SOME BEAD SEALER PUT ON AND REMOUNT THE TIRE AND ALL SHOULD BE GOOD AFTER THAT.
It sounds like that two of the rim are defective. The only way to find out is to have your local tire service person check it out for these defects. The other reason they may leak is that the person who put the tires on did not properly set the bead when they installed it. Check other sites for customers with the same wheel to see if they have the same problem. This might determine that there is a design flaw. There are sealers out there that your service man can place on the bead to prevent leaking. Best of luck to you
