there is a ratcheting type system underneath the dash, get someone competent to go up under there with a flashlight, you should be able to release it with a flat head screwdriver, you take the tension off of the part by having a second person push down on the brake pedal just enough to push the spring loaded pin that is holding the brakes tight. if this is not possible, and you have to move the vehicle and cannot wait for the mechanic, you may have to cut the cable under the vehicle (cut the long single one up towards the front, this should release the rear brakes, then tape the cable end securely up on the frame, away from the spinning drive line, and tape it securely so it cannot get caught on anything. good luck
