Default Why Wont my Toyota 4runner Startup?
1995 Toyota 4runner wont startup tries to startup but wont startup battery is working and no bad dash lights or anything started up before but not today please help im not a genius with cars but i know couple of things

Update 4/29/10: I went and tried starting it and it was hesistating but it started what does that mean?

Battery is dead, buy a new battery.

To Check for a spark:































Buy some Premium Starting fluid, spray it in the Throttle body (looks like a carburetor) for like 5 seconds while holding it open (just push on the metal plate). Try to start the engine with a fully charged battery, if it still won't start after several tries, then you have no spark and its somewhere in the ignition (check spark plugs, distributor, ignition coil,)































If it starts and shuts off, then your engine isn't getting fuel, check the fuel system (fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel strainer, fuel lines, fuel injectors)

The fuel filter could be clogged. The corruption moved out of the way and you got it started. There is an on-board diagnostic and you'll need to look in chilton's to see how to access it. You will need to connect certain terminals in the diagnostic port in the engine compartment so the check engine light blinks stored trouble codes to tell you what's wrong. If the car is running well now, I'm more suspicious of the fuel filter. It won't hurt to change it.































Is the car very low on gas? If so and you're parked on a slope, that may be the cause of fuel flow being interrupted.
