Make sure you bring a mechanic or a friend of yours that knows about cars so that you test drive the vehicle and inspect for possible problems before you buy it. I would try and convince the seller to let it go for 4,000 dollars. There are many people who list their cars at a higher price assuming people will offer less, so don't be shy to try and get a better deal.
