Do the mechanics at Toyota have a sales quota and try to sell unnecessary maintenance?

I get free tires for the life of my car if I get all the recommended basic maintenance done at the dealership. But every time I go in, they have "recommendations" of other things I should have done too. Like fuel injector cleaning. And last time they told me the belts were cracking even though they told me the belts looked fine 3 months earlier when I got the timing belt changed.

The SERVICE writers do. I had the SAME problem. I took my car and asked for the 15K service. The BOOK says "oil chng, lube, tire rotation, check fluid levels"

They tried to charge me for injector cleaning ($69.) which consists of dumping in a can of cleaner, some sort of brake service, another $79.

I told them LOOK, I asked for 15K service as per the owners manual.

They said WE RECOMMEND this other services too

I said I don't give a damn what you recommend, and I'm not paying for anything you did that's not called for in the book.

I was THEN charged only for the oil change.

ALWAYS know what your book says before servicing your car.

I bought a new Toyota and the front struts blew after 5000 miles. They blamed me and told me it was not under warranty...later I found out that the front strut failure was a hidden defect that toyota told no one about. they charged $450.00 to replace both. I am sorry, but Toyota, and it's dealers are filthy crooks. They sold my 18 year old niece a lemon, and she WORKED for them. Toyota dealers stink as bad as their cheap lemon cars. Never...I repeat Never trust a Toyota dealer. This has been going on for decades. America finally discovered the truth.
