Why was direct key access removed from the trunk and all doors but the driver's door on Toyota

Default Why was direct key access removed from the trunk and all doors but the driver's door on Toyota
Avalon's? I did not realize this until after I purchased the Avalon. Later on I lost the key that opens all the doors by pressing a button. Now I have to manually open the driver's door to get to the other doors or the trunk. It is especially annoying when I have a small child with me, am carrying packages or it is raining and I'm trying to put something in the passenger side or in the trunk. I really hate this feature. Other new cars still have key access for doors and trunks. This may be a deal breaker for me on my next car. I don't view it as safe and find it very inconvenient. To say I hate that there is no key access is an understatement. What if there is an accident and I need to get through the doors on the passenger side quickly but they are locked!

All cars are moving away from using a key to lock the doors. It is the same as the drive by wire throttle, no mechanical linkages are used anymore. Software now controls ignition advance, idle speed, cruise control, and anti lock brakes, and the car's stability control. I like the systems as they are an improvement in economy. The worst case scenario is a meltdown of the electrical system- if it happens we are cooked.
