Toyota prius road tax?

Default Toyota prius road tax?
Why does my 2008 prius cost £0 for six months road tax and £10 for 12 months, this don't make sense, I have just paid £10 for 12 months when I should have paid £0 for 6 months

You misunderstand. The Prius is in Band B for "alternative fuel vehicles", where the 12 month tax rate is £10 - 00. There is no 6 month tax available for this band, you can only buy a 12 month disc.
