The battery is dead and can't be jumped. I want to push it out of the way but I can't shift it into neutral. The last time this happened, the mechanic said something about a button to release the gear shift or something like that. Does anyone know where I can find this button?
There are no mechanics or towing available until Monday, but I need the car moved now. Can anyone help?
there should b a button to push somewhere on the console .........also some models require braek pedal to b pushed....so turn key on and push brake pedal and see if it will shift....
The shift lock over ride is under a small panel that you can access with a screwdriver. Look in Chilton's Auto Repair manual in th library to see how this is done. That little panel inusually on the shifter console and looks like nothing in particular.
Have it towed to the nearest new Toyota dealer and place it next to all the other dead Toyotas on the lot. Someone will buy it. There's a Toyota for every Toyota-bot out there. They are just dying to throw their money away!
