Your splice is probably not sufficient to run all of those instruments properly. You need to get a new plug/wire on there, and that should fix the issue. On something like that which would have a fair amount of current running through it, it would probably cut itself out if the exact flow was not present. On something that significant, it's worth it to get the replacement part. It shouldn't be that expensive.
