My 93 camry now makes a noise like a vacume noise when it changes?

Gears. I just had struts, power steering pump and valve cover gaskets put on why would it now make noise when changing gears. It is 93 camry xle v6 auto. It changes gears very smoothly. I know I was recently told the. Fluid should be flushed. Do you think that's the problem? Thanks

The fluid isn't and cannot make a vacuum noise. Fluid flushing is recommended, but my 1998 Corolla doesn't have any transmission problems at 105,000 miles and no transmission fluid flush. They charge about $200 for the flush job. If I get the time, I might change the transmission fluid myself and change the transmission filter and that won't cost anywhere near $200. Look for a loose or disconnected vacuum line. There are so many vacuum lines to look over that it would take a road map to get them right if any are mixed up.

Check the air intake boot and connecting hose. Start at the air filter housing and follow the connections to the rubber intake hose at the intake manifold. They may have have disturbed it or not connected it properly when they did the work you mentioned. As the engine revs up and transmission shifts there is a torque rod mount that is supposed to keep the engine stable. If this mount is worn or not connected the engine may move enough to break the connection at the intake boot--causing a vaccum leak/sound.
