Major tuneup cost for toyota corolla?

does anybody know how much a major tuneup would cost on a 96 toyota corolla in NJ?

A lot people think a tune up is a major service such as a 15 or 30K service which is much more than screwing spark plugs It usually consists of an oil change, transmission srevice, cooling system service tire rotation with brake inspection and cleaning with the remaining brake material documented. and spark plugs (No wires) and engin settings. this will vvary with considerly with year & model.

Back years ago a (tune up) did amount to replacing spark plugs along with points & condenser, air filter, fuel filter, setting timing and adjusting carburator. That was a real tune up.

Today there is no such thing as a tune up. unless you have an older vehicle.

Enough talk. To answer your question. Yes $300-400 would get you a major service.

I have to agree with the first answer. The Toyota stealership doesn't do much for what you pay. $300? They change the spark plugs; tranny service (which is just a 10 minute drain and fill- a simple $30 to $40 for a mechanic to do); fuel filter change (alittle more technical but I changed my first one in 30 minutes. they filter cost around $20);coolant change (you can drain and fill it yourself for less than $20), replace air filter (you can do that for around $10).Everything else is pointless. They check your brakes. The last I heard, brakes come with a sensor that causes brakes to squeal when they go bad, plus you could just look at the brake fluid level. If it's low, you either have a leak or mostly likely a brake job. I love my Toyotas but I avoid the stealership as much as possible. bTW, this overcharging applies to all car dealerships- not just Toyotas. Make sure you go to a decent independent mechanic. You will have top notch work and it will save you money.
