Default what's the cause and solution of my 2003 toyota highlander sudden increase in idle speed?
I started my 2003 toyota highlander and suddenly the idle speed went up, I reved it, and later put it on drive if it will disappear but not. what could be the casue and the solution?















This problem occured when the engine was warm/hot (temp guage at about mid-way) because I had just parked from about 20km journey and I just re-started the car after about 10mins to re-park properly without puting on the AC when I experienced this occurence.















If it's the air mass flow sensor that is dirty (as said by toyota cert tech), what can be done, should it be cleaned or to replace it? Thank you

does it do it when cold or warm? if its cold its because the air density and temperature will cause the engine to idle higher until it has warmed up. if it does when warm it may be a dirty Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF). another thing do you have the a/c on or of, this may be another factor in the reason it activates at a higher idle. it will idle higher when the a/c is activated due to the extra strain on the motor
