Help! I lost the key to the locking lug nut on my 2003 toyota rav4?

The key to the locking nut on my 2003 toyota rav4 is missing. I have searched for the last 2 hours for ways to get it off and almost everything I can find says take it somewhere and have it removed or use a 7 point socket to remove it. It is cylindrical with a pattern on the inside so there is nothing for a socket to grip and I have a flat so I can't take it anywhere. Please help because my car is sitting on the side of the highway until I can get the locking lug nut off.

honestly is sounds like you might be hosed without that lock key, especially since the pattern is internal. maybe try and cut some notches into the cylindrical part of the nut with some kind of cutter so you have something to grip on, maybe try and hammer an undersize socket onto the nut...you're probably gonna have to have it towed somewhere tho.

I would take a socket and a socket wrench and a hammer just find a socket that would big enough bit but it would have to snug on there so you would have to beat it with the hammer to get it to go on ive had to do that before on my 93 escort and it worked cause i had a lock nut on that also but down fall to that is that your socket is trash after that

I have used Mike's method in the past. If you use a good socket it is still usable afterward but watch out for the very sharp edges on the metal curls it produces. The locking lug nut has to be driven out of the socket with a vise and drift.
