The Highlander was Consumer Report's Top Pick, but the Chevy Traverse stole that spot this year. I'm not sure why at must be a Toyota. I assume you think they're the leaders in quality and reliability. Why else would you want one? It's obviously not for looks, performance, style, or image. CR's top Pick is all about reliability, quality, and cost of ownership. If thats why you want a Toyota the Chevy is a better alternative. But I would buy the GMC Acadia because it's a lot better looking than the Traverse and a bit more luxurious, wihle being the same vehicle mechanically.
If you're also looking at small SUV's the Equinox is very quiet so you won't have that problem. It feels much more upscale than the Rav4, and is certainly worth a look.
I think GM is far ahead of other companies with their SUV's. The Tahoe/Yukon, Traverse/Acadia, and Equinox/Terrain all stomp the competition. Dodge has the best trucks (Ram), and Ford will have the best cars. The Taurus is great, and the with the new Fiesta and Focus they'll be the hands down winner. I think the Fusion falls short, but the rest will make up for it.
