Default Toyota Techs: Whistling sound while accelerating going 50-60 mph in a 2007 Toyota Corolla?
what would cause this? It's very faint,but you can hear it as soon as you step on the gas while doing 50-60 mph.Are there any other Corolla owners with this problem? I just bought the car,the serpentine belt looks OK,the air cleaner is secured tightly.Someone told me the alternator could be the problem.It only seems to do it at 50-60mph.















The car has a 1.8L engine with a 4 speed automatic.It has 42,000 miles on it.

Whoever told you it was the alternator is well...da da da da dumb. It's the catalytic converter and you're in luck because emissions equipment has a 7 year warranty (I believe 70k miles). Take it to the dealership and tell them it's whistling dixie. Doesn't matter if you bought it used, they are mandated by the EPA to fix it if it's damaged within that period.
