2005 Rav4 Engine Rattle - HELP!?

Default 2005 Rav4 Engine Rattle - HELP!?
I need help identifying some engine noise in my girl's 2005 Rav4. It seems there is a lot of noise/rattle coming from the engine compartment. I think (from putting my ear close to the engine) it is coming from the left side. A couple guys at school used a screwdriver to try and narrow down the noise location.































They put it to the alternator and said it sounded raspy. I heard it and it did sound like something was scraping. They said it could be the alternator bearing that's hitting the casing. However, all the electrical stuff still worked (lights, signals, radio). If the bearing is bad/rubbing, would it still put out proper output? Is there anyway to test to see if the alternator/bearing is bad?































They also checked the water pump. They said ti sounded a bit messed up too. Is there anyway to test this?

Remove the belt and give each a spin and wobble test.

being a 2005 rav they i guess it is either a 21 series or 33 they both use the 2azfe 4cyc motor and it runs a Serpentine belt which has a large belt teninsor they are prone to have a few problems in the bearing if you remove the belt and start the motor for a short time if the noise has gone they 99%chance you will need to purchase a new teni check with your local dealer the pnc group for the part is 16620 approx cost around 100.00 dollars
