Can a race spec automatic transmission withstand HIGH horsepower? (SUPRA)?

Im planning on buying a Toyota Supra soon and spending my cash to get serious numbers (800+) horsepower, i have searched the internet a bit, and know the stock auto tranny can withstand 400-500hp ish, would a rebuilt race specific auto withstand high numbers? Otherwise itll be a 6speed for me.

If so, do you know any websites/companies that are good in the racing automatic department? thanks.

Yes. Hence why it's a race spec.

I have seen several 1,300 HP Supras with basically stock 6 speeds. So the completely stock tranny can handle 500 HP. But upgrade the clutch and flywheel and you can easily double that.

Sadly GM is not the only automaker capable of making a Auto Tranny that can handle big HP numbers.

So it would be FAR too much work to try and adapt any GM Transmission to the 2JZ with no payoff.

The amount of money you would have to spend to pull that off would be much better spent on the Motor and Suspension.

The only way to use that kind of power in a Supra is to use a GM TH400 automatic and a Ford rear axle, otherwise the power is useless, so that's what I'd do, is get a TH400 with upgraded planetaries and clutches, high stall converter, transbrake, reverse manual valvebody, and a well geared ford 8.8" or 9" rear axle with a good 4 link setup. That would make it hook. Now if you can figure out how to make torque, you would be set.
