Oh, that's too bad. That's like the day I revved to the red line and dropped the clutch and, instead of the customary burn out, I got a loud snap thurrrr, bip bip klump and no more moving. The diff was destroyed.
It is possible to do top end damage revving the engine past the redline. Nobody watches the tach when they're drifting. Valves get messed up. Pull off the rocker cover and see which parts are sloppy with too much gap. Could be a bent valve causing low compression in a cylinder or two. Repairs- about $1500 or more.
