How do I install a bypass switch on Toyota Van Wagon?

I've tried everything known to man to solve an intermittent starting problem on my 1988 Toyota Van Wagon (new starter, new ground from battery, new cable from battery to starter) and it still wont start consistently. I've been told that a bypass switch allowing me to get a full battery current to my starter would solve the issue. How do I go about installing one and what do I buy? Also, any other suggestions for solving my problem?

You're talking some real amps here, & you'll need some heavy wire & a large switch to handle those amps. If you're not good at wiring, I'd leave it to a pro, or you could cure the vans starting problem by frying the wiring system.... But, yes, it can be done.....

I don't know what a "bypass switch" is but that is not the answer. The starter circuit is very simple. Voltage drop tests need to be done when the car will not start to find where the problem is, then it can be easily corrected.

Have you ever changed your ignition switch? sometimes the starter contacts get burned out in the ignition switch itself. if someone is suggesting you put a button switch in and route it to the starter - that will solve the ignition switch problem. Make sure to protect the power supply wire with an inline fuse so it is not a fire hazard.
