The check engine light means "Check Engine". It doesn't mean "guess what". Something has malfunctioned. Go to Autozone and have them do an OBD2 check. They do it free. Dealers charge you $50 to do it. You can buy your own OBD2 code checker for from $75 up. Make sure the code checker is compatible with your car. Older checkers don't read cars with a "CAN" OBD2 system. After you find out what the trouble is, get some intelligent prognostications on what to do to fix the problem. Lots of times folks will just change all the parts they think might be bad, but a lot of good parts get thrown away and money wasted.
