Default i have a 2006 prius question. concerning my electrical battery. PLEASE help!!!?
so we got this 2006 prius, it was previously hit, and im pretty sure it stood untouched for a couple months. anyway we fixed it up nice everything is good except the battery. my question is....















is there anyway to recharge the battery? or is it completely dead?















thing is, it starts up, then when we put it in drive it dies. hubby says its the battery.















so if theres anyone who could shed some light on my problem i would be ever so grateful! we've been excited to put it all together so we can drive , now this is the only thing holding us back. thanks for all who help!!!

The Prius has two batteries, a small auxiliary battery and a large traction battery. The small auxiliary battery is used to get the Prius into READY mode. If the auxiliary battery is weak it can cause all kinds of symptoms. What you need to do is to get the codes from the system and see what the Prius thinks is wrong. It's very unusual for the traction battery to lose charge in only a few months, depending upon how much charge is in to start with six months is no problem and some are fine up to a year.































Based on the symptoms you describe, it sounds like it's out of gas, or at least no gas is getting to the injectors (you can't tell by sound whether the engine is actually running or just being spun up). But you need those codes. Then post them to one of the Yahoo Prius groups.































The traction battery can be charged. Toyota makes a special charger for it. However, I'm not convinced that's your problem.
