I think it would be next to IMPOSSIBLE. The transmission shifts are regulated by the software in the ECU/TCU (engine control unit/trans control unit) computers. Even with paddle shifters the computer is in control - so you cant shift at the wrong rpm. Also most paddle shift systems have a timer on them - and if you don't use the paddles for a while it goes back to full auto.
i checked Toyota US veh specs and didn't find ANY paddle shift 4 cylinders. thinking that you might adapt something - like steering wheel, ECU/TCU etc.
you might find something in the international aftermarket - rally oriented that might convert to paddles.
