Should I buy the extended warranty on a 2010 Toyota Rav4?

Default Should I buy the extended warranty on a 2010 Toyota Rav4?
I am considering to buy a new 2010 Toyota Rav4 V6 4X4. The dealer is offering me the extended warranty (8 yr, 100k miles) [back by Toyota] for $1200. However, I am not sure if I would need that since I have heard that the Rav4 is quite reliable. Also, from what I have heard, the extended warranty thing is kinda tricky as they would say this or that is not covered when you actually need work to be done on the car. Can you give me your advice? Or if you own a similar car, can you share your experience with me? Thanks in advance.

I have never bought the extended warranty from a dealer, nor will i ever do it in the future.















The warranty supplied by the manufacturer is fine.















Dealerships make more money off the warranties and other extras than they do on the actual car!

The price for a warranty is negotiable. They will say it is not but I know that it is. They make more money through financing and warranties then they do on car sales. It would be nice to have an extended warranty . Tell them them you are interested but not for $1200. Try to negotiate a lower price. If they don't come down I wouldn't buy it. Also, and I should have stated this first, check out the warranty itself. Don't ever buy a warranty without reviewing the policy itself. If you don't understand it, get some help. $1200 is a lot of money. Good luck my friend.

i say buy it, only 1200? worth it if the orig, is liek only 50K miles. make sure it covers bumper to bumper

Yes you should buy it because on a Toyota you WILL need it, and often.....
