Well it doesn't need to be a Lexus engine but you don't get a Lexus one you would have to change some things to make it work. I am not sure where you could get one but check the junk yards and impound lots where people can't get there cars because they can't pay it or it is towed or the person is arrested etc. That's where I know where I could find a engine.
All Lexus ES models are basically Toyota Camry V6s with different styling and a Lexus badge so if you want another engine you can get one from a 1988-1991 Toyota Camry V6 as well a 1990-1991 Lexus ES 300. Your best bet it to find a used low mileage Japanese engine. They will be fairly inexpensive to replace with around 50,000 miles on them. You'll also get a 6 month warranty with it. There adistributors all over the country that sell them. Do as search for used engines from Japan in (your city or nearest city). I'm sure you'll find one.
