Default I have a 2003 2.7liter 4 cylinder, manual, 5 speed Tacoma. Can it pull horse trailer: total weight
bout 3,000? Have been told YES, by some people. NO way by others. Know the specs say towing capacity on that truck is 3,500 lbs. Those who say NO tell me it's a safety issue. BUT, if trailer has brakes, then IF they work, the trailer shouldn't push the truck when stopping. Is it gonna KILL the engine? I will NOT buy other than Tacoma. Think my only other option is to look for a good used 6 cylinder with bigger towing capacity. Please help? Does anyone out there tow a horse trailer with their tacoma?

Its less than what the truck is rated for (according to you) so sure assuming your truck is still in good shape. I wouldn't want to do it more than once in awhile though. It its not in good shape then this would probably finish it off.

Yes it's going to be just fine.































I used to tow a 2,500 Trailer with my 1985 4Runner with the 22RE.































It won't harm your engine at all. You'll just have to be careful because you won't be able to accelerate or brake as well. But that goes for anything your towing with any vehicle.































You can tow it every day and it'll be just fine.































If you are unhappy with the towing performance you can look at getting a 6 Cylinder. But you should be happy with the 4 Cylinder.

Just be sure that your Tacoma is properly equipped to tow (you may need to do more than what the factory provided) and you should be fine. Even when properly equipped, the engine might struggle on hills or inclines, so I would avoid those if possible.
