Default I need SERIOUS help with my 99 4 Runner?
I have a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner with the 3.4-6 cylinder and last night on my way home from work i lost almost all power in DRIVE, it still ran but barley had enough power to make it over a hill. When i shifted into 2nd or low gear it ran great. Does anyone know what could be happening















This might help a little better, its like driving in 4th gear all the time when its in drive, but it does seem to shift between all gears, just no power in drive.















oh and the check engine light came on as well.

Ummm...well I really don't know much about cars but my car had like almost no power for almost a month and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and I talked to some people and told them that it ran and it never shut off its just when I would push on the gas I would have to slam it to the floor for it to get up and actually go and going up hills it sounded like it was gonna die...so I had a friend do a basic tune up on it which consisted of new spark plugs and wires and all of that in just parts cost about $50....and I had my oil changed and he checked all the other fluids and my car is running great! Also you can take it to an auto parts store and sometimes for free they will diagnose the problem for you. Good Luck and I hope it all works out =)

the check engine light is probably a shift solenoid malfunction. EXTREMELY rare of these things going bad in a 4runner of that year. have it looked at. if i had it, i would fix it. it would definitely worth it.
