- Will 140k kms affect the life of a prius battery?
No. The Prius battery is well taken care of and lasts a very long time. The actual mean time between failures isn't known because there aren't enough Prius out there with 300,000 to 400,000 miles on them.
- What do i look for before buying a prius.
Pretty much the same things you'd look for in any car (was it in an accident or flood, are there signs of abuse). Getting the maintenance records from the original owner is always a plus.
- Is it a good idea to go for the above mentioned prius.
Assuming that it checks out and hasn't been in any accidents yes. The poster who keeps saying that the Prius isn't low cost to maintain has obviously never owned one and probably has never even driven one. The Prius is no more expensive to maintain than any other mid-sized car and if you are into DIY, you can save a bunch of the dealer service prices (The Prius is a very easy DIY for the scheduled maintenance). It has a very high owner satisfaction rating as well.
My two Prius (a 2001 and a 2004) have 80,000 and 110,000 trouble-free miles respectively. (130,000 km and 180,000km).
