Like most logo's, I doubt that it has any meaning other than to promote recognition of the product.

It's a stylized T, their initial, and it's purpose is to create brand recognition. They're not the only ones to do that. Mazda uses a stylized M. Hyundai uses a stylized H. Oldsmobile uses a stylized O in combination with their previous rocketship which represented the Rocket V8 engine.
