Nice engine and nice sound... lovely
This engine was used by several models, from MR2 SW20 to Carina (European Camry)
The most famous cars using this engine are probably the MR2 and Celica:
- The Celica which used this engine was built in 1986-89, 1990-93, 1994-00 (T160 (Base), T180 and T200 (A few countries due new engines)). Every new model used an improved version of this engine.
- The MR2 SW20 also used this engine between 1987-99 (SW20). The engine was improved on this model, at the same time as Celica's.
The engine developed (non-turbo) even 180hp and it seems there also was a 200hp version in Japan
NOTE: Take into account that Toyota developed its VVT-i technology in 1999, it was 'the update' of this engine in several SW20 and Celica built between 1999 and 2000
