My 2004 has 110,000 trouble-free miles on it and still runs like new. You do want to check that the car you're looking at hasn't been in a bad accident or flood.

The Prius only needs a minimal amount of maintenance. Mostly it consists of an oil change and tire rotation. No more expensive than a Corolla.
