Which Toyota Supra is best?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a Toyota Supra, which model year is the best? Any other advice for a future Supra owner? Can I service it at a current Toyota dealer?

The MK IV is the best when it comes to performance. If costs are a factor, an MK III is probably better. They are awesome cars, but they definitely aren't for people who don't have a large wallet or bank account to put money into the car. I would not service a Toyota car at a Toyota dealership unless I was getting warranty work done (since most Toyota dealerships like to make you buy stuff you don't even need instead of actually fix the problem at hand). Try finding a good independent mechanic first (you are far more likely to get honest, quality service). Also consider joining an online forum dedicated to the Supra, as the members of these places are longtime Supra owners and know more about the car than Toyota themselves.

LOL Good luck finding one. They are being heavily sought after by colllectors. And they are not cheap by any means. The last generation is the one you want. And you want the twin turbo edition.

That being said, I have been seeing well used and abused supras going for over $40K because of the very low supply and very high demand for them. My best friend bought one used for $36K back in 2000 and he drove the crap out of it for 7 years. I mean drag strips red light racing some fender benders...etc. That car had a hard life. Well come 2007 he decided to sell it and he ended up selling it for $42K. He had multiple wealthy bidders wanting to pay almost any price to get their hands on it.

As far as service, dont bother with the stealerships. Just find a good mechanic who can handle the powerful 2JZGT engine.
