How often should i get my timing belt changed on a 1992 Toyota Celica?

Default How often should i get my timing belt changed on a 1992 Toyota Celica?
I have the car in the shop on another problem and i was wondering if i should have them change the timing belt while they are at it? its got 140 thousand miles on it and the timing belts have never been replaced as far as i know. please advise. thanks!

it is reccomended to replace the timing belt on most cars at 90-100K unless you bought it used and know for sure the original owner replaced it before you bought it.































also while have the timing belt replace have your water pump replaced because there will not be any extra labor, you just pay for the part....since they will have the engine disassembles to that point anyways

Yes, I agree with Jeff and follow the 90,000 mile rule and have never had a major problem with the 5 Toyotas we have bought from brand new and the longest we have ever kept was 1993 Toyota Camry LE with 211,000 miles that we gave away when my wife and her sisters all insisted on SUVs and she upgraded to 2005 Toyota Highlander 6 cylinder AWD.































FYI in addition to timing belt and water pump, I also have my mechanic replace the thermostat and both fan belts.

Replace as soon as possible. The damage caused by a broken belt to the engine is far more expensive and take several days or weeks to be back on the road.































Do replace the water pump and the drive belts too.
