2003 Toyota Camry, V6 and just under 50K mi. Transmission Noise?
I've got a 2003 Toyota Camry, V6 and just under 50K mi. This car is rebuilt, though I've driven it for 15k plus miles with no real problems. Just recently I've started to hear a noise which sounds to be a transmission problem but last time I had someone drive it to observe- they couldn't recreate the sound. Since then the noise has been more frequent.
Below are some observations:
1. Start car- leave in park - usually no noise
2. Drive for more than 10 min- noise most noticeable at lower speeds (under 15 mph)
3. drive for 10 min - then put in park - noise
4. drive for 10 min - then brake to stop with car in drive - noise (often)
5. If i put the car in Neutral while doing observation 4 or whenever there is noise/vibration the noise/vibration stops
6. noise/vibrations begin once the car goes into any gear other than neutral
The noise appears to be coming from the back right (I'm in the drivers, so that's where it sounds like it's coming from) Any help would be greatly appreciated!
