very high idle problem in 1986 Toyota Celica Supra?
I start the vehicle up and it starts up and runs alright for about two seconds then the rev starts climbing very quickly. I tried disconnecting the positive terminal on the battery to reset the MAF sensor but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
I start the vehicle up and it starts up and runs alright for about two seconds then the rev starts climbing very quickly. I tried disconnecting the positive terminal on the battery to reset the MAF sensor but that didn't work. Any suggestions? The car still has the 5M-GE it was built with. I removed the tubing between the MAF sensor and the actual intake part of the car. (I think it was like a vaccum or something.. whatever it is, its meant to restrict air flow to the engine after it goes through the MAF sensor) That's the only modification. I still have that part and I can put it back on, but the tubing was beginning to crack and deteriorate. That's the main reason I removed it. But if anyone knows what the hell is going on with my car, that would be great. I want to say its the IAC, MAF, or maybe something in the throttle is stuck. When I say high idle, I don't think it even goes to an idle. The engine just revs up and climbs quickly. I usually shut the engine off when it hits 5000.
