Default what would cause this issue on a 88 toyota pickup?
ok im looking into buying a 88 toyota pickup 22r 130,000 . the owner says the only issue with this truck is when starting it it will shut off. and to my understanding , once started it runs fine, but during the starting process it will shut off. any idea what this is? is it serious to where i shouldnt buy this? any info thanks!

its hard to say, this could be simple, it could be a major expense, the only way to know, is to take it to a mechanic BEFORE YOU BUY IT AND PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. OTHERWISE the price better be dirt cheap, I have taken chances, and gotten good cars , but for 200 or 300 bucks, any more you cant trust people, take it to a mechanic, or walk away, its your choice.

Could be the starter selenoid is going bad...
